Weaving Healing: My Journey as a Certified Art Therapy Practitioner

Certificate of Completion for Art Therapy Practitioner Lina Chen, with accreditation seals and date 8 Aug 2026, in a gold-bordered frame.

For those who have followed the journey of Wave Your Way, you know that my work has always been about much more than just aesthetics. Macramé is, for me, a form of meditation—a way to ground myself, ease the mind, and process the world through knots and textures.

I am absolutely thrilled to share that I have officially completed my certification as a certified Art Therapy Practitioner! Reaching this milestone marks the formal integration of my passion for craft with the evidence-based therapeutic principles I have long felt in my heart.

“Macramé to me is not just jewelry, it is a type of weaving healing.”

Wave Your Way

Why Craft Therapy and Mindful Making Matter

My career path has always been driven by a deep-seated desire to connect with and support others. Whether through my background in Special Education or my work as an artisan crafting pieces with natural gemstones, I’ve always believed that creativity holds transformative power.

Engaging in therapeutic art and mindful handwork provides profound benefits for mental wellness:

  • Reduces Stress: The repetitive, rhythmic nature of knotting helps quiet an overactive mind.

  • Encourages Emotional Expression: Creating physical pieces allows us to externalize feelings that are sometimes difficult to put into words.

  • Builds Mindfulness: Focusing entirely on the present moment anchors you in a state of calm.

What This Means for Wave Your Way

Now, with my formal Art Therapy Practitioner credential, I am better equipped than ever to hold space for others to explore their own creativity as a pathway to wellness.

As I continue to design gemstone-infused jewelry collections and plan upcoming summer workshops, I am excited to weave these therapeutic insights into everything I create. Craft is a journey, and I want to invite you to experience how intentional creation can bring more balance and calm into your daily routine.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me, encouraged my creative process, and joined me on this path of mindful making. I look forward to sharing more about what this means for the future of Wave Your Way soon!
